Rohan Mainkar is has over 8 years of experience across three continents designing electrical systems and renewable energy systems on projects in residential sectors, school districts and commercial spaces; grid tied, stand alone and hybrid systems. He specializes in solar photovoltaic systems (PV), battery energy storage systems (BESS) and Microgrids. He has even used wind turbines to generate renewable energy.
His has advanced experience designing systems from end-to-end. This includes research into cutting-edge products to develop innovative energy producing systems, such as bifacial PV modules, building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV), DC coupled microgrids and small scale wind turbines. He is also adept in infrastructure design for electric vehicles and how to manage charging to minimize demand charges and charging infrastructure. He has been involved in the design of over 150 MW of PV systems and 30 MW of BESS and his experience designing PV systems includes adhesive backed flexible amorphous silicon, thin film, bifacial, mono and poly crystalline panel technologies. He is also experienced using flat, tilted, ballasted and single axis tracking mounting systems as well as locating PV’s on façades, rooftops, parking lots, ground mounts and shade structures.
Rohan enjoys playing soccer in his free time, reading, and learning about history and traveling to off-beat places that are rich in culture.
