East San Jose Carnegie Branch Library

Opened in 1908, the East San Jose Carnegie Branch Library is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is the last operating public library donated by the Carnegie family in the City of San Jose. It was carefully renovated 2009 and received LEED Silver Certification. The current 10,220 SF building includes the existing building plus new additional floor space including community rooms, a computer center and study spaces. IDeAs was responsible for the design of electrical systems, lighting and lighting controls. Green attributes include: extensive use of natural lighting and daylighting controls, passive cooling using an innovative underground thermal maze and high performance light fixtures.
