The David and Lucile Packard Foundation is one of the most publicized net zero energy buildings in the world. IDeAs performed the electrical engineering for the 51,000 SF office that reduced annual energy by 65%, incorporating one of the first uses of occupancy based plug load controls, extra high efficiency transformers and automatic daylight controls for lighting and external shades. The 500 kW PV array made the building net zero energy/net zero carbon emission, at the time, the largest ILFI Certified Net Zero Energy project in the world. The facility won an AIA COTE Top 10 Award, and is LEED Platinum Certified, ILFI Zero Net Energy Certified and NBI Zero Energy Verified.
